A slightly longer than last time quick CSS question

Is there anyway I can change the background colour of a table cell (/me ducks) using CSS without using Javascript?

td:hover {
  background-color: red;
}

Won't work in IE though so I guess it's a bit useless really 🙁

Is it for a hover thing? If so, you could tweak it many ways to make it happen...

Otherwise, no - you would need javascript (unless you want to use cookies or something like that). You could have a dynamic stylesheet like style.css.php and then read the cookie values, etc...

You might ask the Web Standards Group for some help - it's where I go when I get into a bind - their mail list is truly excellent reading.

Edit: Actually, if I had to do this I would probably use lists...

Then set my padding/margins to fill up the table cell (if that was possible)...
