how long have readdir and scandir been available?

Hi,

This is the first time I've needed the dir functions, because I'm operating without a database and managing a dir full of pdf files. So, I found the info on all the dir functions in the php.net manual pages, but everything is listed for php 5.0.

Are these old functions that I can count on being in pretty much all older versions of php? Particularly, i need scandir and readdir.
