Hello there,
I am starting up a new website, and am new to all of this. I have installed php Nuke 7.2 on my website, and am interested in using it to help me built a sports news site with articles which involve college recruiting of athletes.
I would like for my site to be similar to http://www.rivalshoops.com or http://www.hoopmasters.com. Both of these sites include the following:
- user logs in on the front page(I prefer a login block in the banner)
- user gets charged $5 every month for a subscription(credit card only)
- an integrated message board(one user name for everything)
- ability for admin to publish stories with WYSIWYG editor
- ability for me to attach video clips from my digital camcorder
- ability to archive stories(and ability to search them)
- NO ability for users to post stories
- some stories are free, and others require a current subscription
- lots of photos on the front page, and also the ability to have multiple photos within an individual story
One extremely critical factor is that I want one column of stories down the middle of the page, similar to the example sites above that I gave you. I looked at some Mambo software, and it had two columns of articles side by side, which appears too cluttered, at least in my opinion.
Can anyone here give me a few pointers on how best to get started with all of this? Should I buy a template from phpnukeskins.com, or is there a better way to go?
Also, I am considering using paypal.com to collect the money for me, and I have heard of some software made by www.dreamcost.com, which can manage your monthly billings for you.
