Regular Expressions Help PLZ

would anyone know why this regular expression

{http://www.dynamics.com/index.php\?FanID\=&email\=&name\=*}

does not match this...

could be the usage of a few reserved characters as well as how you use the * character.

try this as the pattern.

/http:\/\/www.dynamics.com\/index.php\?FanID=(\d+)&email=([a-zA-Z0-9@.-_]+)&name=(\w+)/

means the preceding character 0 or more times, so =* looks for an equal sign 0 or more times. it sees it, but then it runs into some unexpected text and breaks out returning no match.

thanks dude this was my first real world application using regular expressions 😉

as usual as soon as i posted this I remembered reading about greedy and lazy * operators or something similar.

So instead i changed the * to be a [^&]+

and it worked fine :p
