indexing pdfs .....

ok...so im on a tight deadline on this one. the client wants a submission section where you can upload pdf files and the text gets indexed into a table (mySql).

how is this done, have looked at documentation about a program called pstotext (does anybody know this?). the documentation is very fague so im not sure.

has anybody ever done this and how hard (or easy) is it to do this? also if this requires software of somesort then it would most certainly have to reside on the server, right?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

have installed phpdig onto my webserver and i can index normal html pages but having hell trying to install the pstotext thing.

how did you get this to work?!

since they pretty much assume your a linux administrator, which im not. i dont know what 'external binarys' are or untarring a tar.Z file. and yes i have searched on google to look up most of the stuff.

doesnt anybody make instructions in english?

anyhelp with the pstotext thing would be so appreciated.
