I currently run a php and MySQL based system for my company. Its running on a pretty outdated system that we got from ebay. Im not sure of the specs off the top of my head but I believe its around a PII dual 350 mhz, w 512mb of ram. For certain reports that I need to create we have over 300 accounts and need to run a few thousand calculations per account, this bogs down the php server greatly and takes a couple of minutes to finish and open the page. We are looking at buying a new server to run the system, but I am wondering if anyone knows of any sites or anyway I could get a decent ballpark figure of how much faster a new server would make things. Just want a figure or two to justify spending 4 or 5 grand on a new server. Any Ideas?
