multiple Count(*) - help

Consider this table

Name - Course - Paper Written - Exam Passed
John         Math         True         True
Mary         Math         True         True
John         History         True         False
Mary         Biology         False         True
John         Econ         True         True

What would be SQL command to give me this result:

Student No - Papers Written - Exams Passed
John          3         2
Mary         1         2

I can get to count one field with
SELECT firmalar.adi, firmalar.kodu, COUNT(*) as asd FROM firmalar, urunler WHERE urunler.fkodu = firmalar.kodu GROUP BY urunler.fkodu

but not two fileds at the same time

count() didnt really help.
It is pretty simple actually.

Select name, sum(if(paper_written, 0,1)), sum(if(exam_passed, 0,1)) from STUDENTS group by name;

I had the table set so that Treu is 1 false is 0 so for my case

Select name, sum(paper_written), sum(exam_passed) from STUDENTS group by name;
