Shorten Referer Urls

Hi Everyone 😃 ,

Board Newbie Here 😕, Was Just Wondering If Some Of You Talented Php Coders Could Have A Solution To This Problem.

Ive Made A Site Referer Page Inwhich I Can Keep Track Of How People Are Finding My Site, The Only Problem Is That When It Displays The Url Its Far Too Long Eg(http://www.google.com/search?q=flash/games+.co.uk&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&start=10&sa=N)

What I Was Wondering Is, Is There A Way To Shorten It So All That Appears Is The Home Site Url (http://www.google.com)?

What Im Using At The Minute In The Code Is $referer = $HTTP_REFERER; Then That Gets Inserted Via MY_SQL.

Any Tip Would Be Greatly Appreciated 🙂

if you just want to hide it from the users, then use frames...
basic html frames.

I am assuming that you want to manipulate this string.
Maybe you could try this out:

$referer = "http://www.google.com/search?q=flash/games+.co.uk&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&start=10&sa=N";
// I know is $referer = $HTTP_REFERER, but I'll use that as an example.

$refPieces = explode ("/", $referer);
$referer = $refPieces[0] . "//" . $refPieces[2];

echo "new link: $referer";
?>
