create cron job in php script?

I was wondering if there is a way to setup a cron job via code verses going into shell and doing it?

I don't think so, but there is a guide ( .click here ) to using CRON to automate php sites

Well, assuming the existence of a crontab that PHP can edit (the user the web server runs under, say) ... it's just a text file, so reading, editing, and writing it won't be any hassle: just learn the format it's written in (which can be found of course with a "man crontab"). The jobs will be run under the user the crontab belongs to.
