I have a 20 lb. CO2 tank here with a paintball refill valve assembly on it, hooked up a dry ice maker to it, however I ran out of CO2 before I made the dry ice maker, so I was unable to test it, but I will this monday or tuesday. if you want to learn how to make the dry ice maker, read some more. The design is really quite simple. to make a very simple dry ice maker, get some PVC pipe with one end cap (not a screw on, just a push on) drill a hole in the end cap, then take some hose the diameter of the hole, and epoxy it in place from both sides. then figure some way out to hook that hose to your siphon CO2 tank, (must be a siphoned CO2 tank otherwise no dry ice will form) then just open the CO2 tank valve and watch dry ice snow come out of the end of the pvc pipe.
Recap:
materials needed:
drill
1/2" drill bit
1/2" diameter hose
epoxy
2" PVC pipe end cap
1'of 2" PVC pipe
PVC cement or purple primer
hose fitting to attach to tank
a preferably bulk (20lb or more) siphoned CO2 tank
Procedure:
Drill a hole in the 2" PVC pipe end cap, and put the tubing in the hole (make sure it is a snug fit) then epoxy the tupe in place on both sides of the end cap. purple prime, or PVC cement the 1' length of PVC pipe to the end cap. then attach the fitting onto the hose that will attach it to the tank, and then attach it to the tank. Open up the siphoned CO2 tank valve to see dry ice snow comming out.
You can also get a 2' length of 8" diameter PVC pipe, and hav it set on the ground, then have the end of the dry ice maker pointed into the 8" pvc pipe to collect all of it into one place, then you can easly compact it in the way that you desire.
