mysql connections cuasing server to stop execution

hi,

this is my one chance to figure this out because otherwise my web host will close my account.

i recently got an email saying -

your account was using mySQL connections which were not closing correctly. As a result this was causing the server to stop excepting any further connections.

From what I can see is that the processes are going to sleep and not being killed off.

i'm not quite sure how to fix this, i thought mysql_close would work but seen as i am using mysql_pconnect i cannot.

i will post script if necessary but does anyone have any idea what is causing the problem?

Try not using a permanent connection. On most sites, they're not needed.

Try it out, see if it works. If not, contact your tech support and tell them you're fixing the error.

i've changed all my connections to normal connections and made sure to close them all, just incase

i'm not sure exactly how i would know if it was working or not because if it wasnt then i would only find out by getting another email from them telling me that my accounts closed.

and the fact that they have previously stated they dont help fix faulty websites, even when it completely kills their server?

silly if you ask me, i havent had much luck with them recently, very very poor support from them (if you can call it support), do not recommend them
