FTP Upload Timeout

I need to be able to upload large files, which can take longer than 30 seconds to upload. I have tried set_time_limit(0) but it dosen't work.
I read the manual and it says stream operations will not be included for the time limit.
How can I set the time to allow long upload times?

set_time_limit(0) definitely won't work. The argument of that function is the number of seconds before the script stops execution. Try something like: set_time_limit(120).

the set_time_limit function still doesnt work... I have tried going to the php.ini file and changing the settings there. but still doensnt work. I also restarted the apache server after the php.ini changes.

What can I do?
