Events Script - need to show date closest to todays date

Hi there,

I have spent so long on this script and have had help here in the past but now I am totally clueless on how to get this darn script to work. Can anyone offer a solution? I will be forever in your debt.

I have this script:

now I need to use this script but only show 1 event and that event has to be the one nearest the current date (ie todays date 19/07/204 and the closest event would be nearest this date)

The script works by calling flat text files with the .txt stripped away. The file names are the dates of the events. So an event for today (4th August 2004) would be named 20040804

Someone did give me this:

and although it does show just the one date it shows the wrong one. It shows tha entry last posted as against the entry clostest to todays date.

Can anyone help?

after the sort() doesnt

$inc_files[0] contain the file nearest to todays date not including events that have past

On the first version of the code (at the top) yes it does but this version shows all events that are up and coming. I need it just to show one event and that event must be closest to todays date.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear on that.

You are a star - that worked a treat 🙂

I only had to add a forward slash to the end of ../event_dates/ and it worked a treat.
