Need PHP/MySQL host in UK

Help please. Our ISP has been taken over and the service and technical standards are all to pot. I need a new ISP to host our website, one that configures their servers properly (eg register globals OFF) and sticks to the recognised 'standards'. Can anyone recommend an ISP in the UK?

I know I can find an ISP, in fact, these days, they all offer PHP/MySQL. What I am after is a Recommedation from someone who uses an ISP and is satisfied with the service. An ISP that takes the trouble to read the release notes and follows them when upgrading, instead of just 'throwing' a new version at the server and hoping it sticks. I've just wasted 2 weeks of development because my current host does not.

Well excuse me!! Look I know cross-posting is not the 'done thing' and I've never done it here before. I was not sure which forum to post it in so I posted it in 2, here and the newbies. I was hoping for some help not some smart-arsed comment from a Troll. If it has been discussed before then a ref to the thread, or even the forum, would have been nice. Instead, I get you wasting your time just to show what an 'oldbie' you are. I am not after some naff free web hosting, I'm after a good quality commercial host for our company website, and we are not some e-business dot com front, we've been around for 20 years.

So, if anyone has experience of a host that provides a quality service, please can you reply; if not then don't waste your time

Thanks for the links WeedPacket. Only trouble is: it refers to FREE hosting. I specifically said I'm NOT looking for FREE hosting, I'm after commercail hosting for our company site.

And FYI, when I searched the forums for hosting, I got several pages of posts, most of which had nothing to do with my needs or even with hosting.

Hi, try www.bestukhosts.co.uk, it's not a hosting company, but you can search for and compare hosting packages. Make sure you select PHP in your search!
