😕 Does anyone know where I can get either of these server programs? I've searched for almost an hour and have failed to find anything... I'll be extremely greatful if anyone could help. Thank you.... 🙂

The very FIRST entry that comes up in Google if you search for "apache" is the correct site. Why is this hard to find?

IIS comes from Microsoft --- we'll leave you to find that site by yourself. According to the site, though, you can get Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, which includes IIS and a lot of other security hohhhhhhre and necessary bells and whistles from just $999.00 USD ... 😉

I think IIS is included with Windows 2000 and up, but disabled by default. If you're using Windows XP Pro, go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Check the box for IIS to install. Make sure you run IIS Lockdown. This thread is also a good read.

          Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I did realise that apache.org is the first website shown when you look up 'apache' on a search engine/directory. I was not exaggerating when I said that I spent an hour looking for somewhere to download Apache, and spent a fair amount of time on both the Apache and IIS sites (I've found it, thanks).

However, on the Apache site, it seemed almost impossible to actually find the page to download it from - I was browsing their 'download from a mirror' for about half an hour.

Ah, yes - thanks also for including a link to Google in your post - that was a nice touch. And Strings, thanks for the link to that page.

            Got to www.apache.org

Click on HTTP Server under Projects

Scroll down the page until you find the download you want (Unix source, or Windows source or binaries).
            Click and download.

Changing to a different mirror is optional; it lets you pick a server closer to your geographic location.

IIS is also in Windows xp pro but its just trickier to find. but it is on the cd. the downfall of that one, is that it will only serve one site 🙁 so if you are looking to mass host go apache or pay a grand
