Can my PHP file be coded to be "Transparent"? (IFRAME question)

Hey Friends . . .

In the ongoing saga of perfecting my PHP counter I have, er, encountered a vexing little problem related to the IFRAME in which the counter is placed.

First, here is the PHP counter:

And here is a test HTML page with it in action. To appreciate the problem, this should be viewed in Explorer:

I've scoured the web for this topic and the IFRAME/TRANSPARENCY workarounds seem to be straightforward if the content your IFRAME is pointing to is a URL. The content in my IFRAME is pointing to my PHP file (a graphics-based counter); and I need to know if the actual PHP script can be coded for the file to render "Transparent." Again, this is only an issue with Explorer (what else tsk).

My idea is to code the PHP as "transparent" . . . and then add the following instruction to my IFRAME;
allowtransparency="true" background-color="transparent"

Or do you PHP experts have a better solution to making the PHP file being called in my IFRAME render transparent? I'm open to all suggestions. 😃

you might want to try to give the images for the counter a transparant background or no background.... this must be done in the editing program where you created the images...

Thank you but I'm not looking for a solution limited only to the graphics the PHP generates. If I need to add text to this content at some point, I need the transparency to work for everything in that PHP file.

Is there such a thing as a string that I can place within the PHP file to make it "Transparent"?

i dont know...

when i look at your counter i see images with white backgrounds... those backgrounds must be removed if you want it to be transparant...😃

If thats not the case then try to give the iframe a background the same as your site is 🙂

The IFRAME isn't calling the graphics . . . it's calling the file 8886.php. But even if it were calling one (static) graphic . . . at some point this php file will have text as well as the counter. Sooner or later I will need to know how to code that entire PHP file to be transparent.

I know you're trying to help but you need to grasp the concept of the IFRAME to understand how tricky this is. It's a bucket, and at this point it contains only one thing — the file 8886.php — and it is the file itself I maintain must be coded to be transparent . . .

But, you know, I could be tooooooootally wrong LOL. 😃

That's why I'm here folks. Yup. Yup. 😃

Anyone dealt with PHP-in-an-IFRAME transparency issues before? Surely some thoughtful soul has done time with this? 😃

well see what you do, in my posts i described a way to how i think it can be solved... but maybe im wrong too 😃 i really dont know 🙂 i thought this was a quicky to solve 😉

Hi,

your counter script contains only the image tags. First of all, change it to be a valid HTML document. Additionally add a style to the body tag like e.g.:

</BODY>
</HTML>

The style should do the trick.

Additionally you might need to add the STYLE="background-color: transparent" to the opening IFRAME tag, too.

Incidentally, so that you don't think you're losing your mind, I renamed the test HTML file to "01-IFRAME" because I modified it to constrain more tightly to the height of the graphics being rendered.

Still have the ugly white; but now Thomas let me see what kind of trouble I can get into! 😃

I know you have spent a lot of time working on this, but, and have worked hard. I can appreciate that, but..........

The IFrame is deprecated in the XHTML 1.1 standards as set by the W3C. If you are trying to develop a counter script that you want others to download and use, this is something to keep in mind. Me personally, if I was looking for a script online or off, and IFrame was the solution being offered, I would have to move on past it. (No offense)

Just throwing in my $.02. I know it's a bit late now, but I felt I had to chime in on this.

rename the file (.html files are not parsed by PHP on your server, rename it to 1234567890.php).

i checked the two pages again:

in 02-IFRAME.html remove the first body tag in

There are two body tags.

Second reinsert the allowtransparency="true" again in the starting iframe tag.

And rename the counter script to 1234567890.php.

in 1234567890.php the body tag is above </head>. It must be below </head>.
