Serveral months ago when I first started learning PHP I was having problems w9ith php myadmin. When I click on the delete row icon it did not delete the row.
I contact my webhost and they got back to me saying they could replicate the problem and it was probably a javascript incompaterbility with my browser. I went to test it out again, opened up phpmyadmin only to find that one of my rows had been deleted. I noticed this straight away as I only had a few and I new exactly what should have been there.
I wasnt to botherd as it was just a tutorial script i was messing about with and data wasnt important. I also know they where training new staff at the time maybe it was an honest mistake?
Has anyone had any experience of hosts messing up DB's?
The shared server I'm on was having troubles last week. It kept slowing down to a crawl.. Somtimes I would get a timeout error. This lasted for 4 days. After the episode I contacted them to make sure they new there was a problem. They go back to once the server was working corectly again simply saying the had fixed the problem.
These problems continued regulary over the next 3 days. I conacted them again on the 3'rd day explaining that everytime I went to work on my site the server would grind to a halt and I'd have to do somthing else instead. They got back to me 24hours later with a print out of the server stats at the time of there reply.
Whats the point in replying to my e-mail to tell me everything is fine the day after? I could have told them that myself.
Maybe I expect to much from a shared host?
