Migrating from PHP4 to PHP5

Is it possible to run PHP 4 and PHP 5 concurrently? So that for example files with .php would be parsed by version 4 and files with .php5 would be parsed by PHP 5 untill all errors are resolved?

Is it possible to run PHP 4 for some virtual site and PHP 5 for an other virtual site?

[font=trebuchet ms]I just tried it, and what I had to do was install Apache 1.3 and Apache 2.0 and run them at different times. When I want PHP4, I'll run the Apache 1.3 server (which I have set up to point to the docs in Apache 2.0's folder, so I don't have to duplicate files), when I want PHP5, I stop the Apache 1.3 server and run the Apache 2.0 one. Seems to work well.[/font]

thx but of course that is not the real question. I would like my sites simultaneously. however - it seems like PHP is fairly backward compatible and I'm not really having problems. I was first thinking of migrating one site at a time but untill now everything works fine.

today I discovered an undocumented error in PHP5 which didn't exist in PHP4:

pg_fetch_object with a 3rd parameter returned an error in PHP5 while it didn't in PHP4
