Server name

Hello,

I built a link system where my menbers need to add their websites in order to send traffic to my website. So lets say that a member didnt add his website but still wants to send traffic or he sends traffic from a site he didnt add, then I need to know that...

Once the user clicks on my link he goes to a page on my site that counts him in... but i cant use $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] on that page because that would only return my own domain name... I need to know what domain the user came from without having to place php code on his website... Any ideas on how to solve this?

you can use $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] however that isn't very reliable.

unstable .? no !! empty sometime yes....but not other solution

If the referer information isn't reliable enough for you, have your affiliates add their domains explicitly to any URLs linking to you.

Example: Your site is www.foo.com. An affiliate site is www.bar.com.

The affiliate site would use a link that looks like this:

<a href="http://www.foo.com/somepath/?domainfrom=www.foo.com">Click here</a>

Your site can then fetch $_GET['domainfrom'] and reliably know the domain of the site that should be credited.
