creating the layout

Hi everyone, Im new here and completly new to PHP.
Atm, im learning PHP and it seems pretty straightward. However, I have a really basic question. How do I make the actual site? Whats the best way to design the layout and things and link it to code in PHP? For example, if I wanted a "Username" and "Password" text box, would I have to code its location on screen in PHP, or is there some program that I can use to "draw" the text boxes at a certain location?
Sorry for this very noobish question.

Well, what you are asking is actually a design question, which is HTML/XHTML/CSS. PHP is used for data, not design.

The W3C has info regarding the HTML/XHTML/CSS specs.

sorry for the late reply (had comp probs 🙁). I dont have much time, so coding the site in HTML might take a while. What do you think the best WYSIWYG editor is?

AVOID WYSIWYG editors... Find yourself a good PHP IDE. WYSIWYG editors add useless code, and spacing. Of course, that's just my opinion, but you'll find a lot of regs here are pretty much in the same boat...

im afraid i would have to agree. theres not really any such thing as a good WYSIWYG editor.
