php mail status trackinng

Hi friends,

Is there any method to track the staus for a mail send using the php mail() function?

I want to get the number of bounce backs for the message send. Also i want to collect these number for each message separately through a php script.

Is it possible using php?

Please help me to find a coding solution .

Im planning on taking on a similar project. I was going to see if i can run a script in an HTML e-mail though I'm not sure its possible. I think we may have to look to another language for this one.

If you happen to find out more please let me know.
