Another weird thread/poll from me.... :rolleyes: It's not highly original; I've seen it on myriad other forums. AAMOF I searched a bit on this forum before posting, but didn't find a dedicated thread, though the subject has been discussed here and there ...
I was noting that in our famed 'editor' thread the discussion turns occasionally to hardware requirements for a given software package --- (I was reminded also of the notorious 'nacronym' for GNU's Emacs editor --- "Eight(y) Megs And Constantly Swapping") --- sometimes (heck, with me all the time) you just need a little more memory or a little faster processor to get the job done.
So, tell us about your hardware. A short description is really what we're looking for --- CPU type/speed, memory size, storage, perhaps motherboard type/video card, etc. OS and any other outstanding features can also be mentioned, but the idea is simply to get a fairly broad view of what machines we are using ....
The poll is multiple choice and times out after 6 months (I'm hoping this thread will be popular...) Also, please keep it to one or two of your most-used boxes. (Several of us could probably post a lot of server stats, but that's not really the point, either. What do you do your coding on?
I know it's a little like looking downwards in the showers after gym class :eek:, but it's not designed to be about boasting as much as simply sharing information...
