Newbie just starting out

Gidday all, Im a NEWBIE and am after some hints for starting out.

I run a website, www.to-to-to.net here in Japan and am now wanting to write my own php scripts or be able to find what I need.

I use phpwebsite as my main but want to develop a mobile site that can be used on web accessible mobile phones.

I currently have an html based Bar/Club Guide, but want to set up databases to create searchable Bar/Club, Restaurant and Movie Guides.

Im wondering, where should I go to basic information about how to make these and them how to make them accessible thru html?

Im not after any Holy Grail answers but just a push in the right direction.

Please...pretty please.

Well, a tad more seriously. The manual has lots of stuff ... all prototypes and examples of each function ... you want a function, just browse www.php.net/functionname.

Zend.com, this site, weberdev.com, have fine tutorials. And you can always Google for what you want.

Sometimes Books help a tad, too. Use the search link above, and you'll find places where we've discussed many of them. There's one sticky thread about this in the "Echo Lounge," but it's a tad new and hasn't many titles discussed as of yet...
