Disadvantage of using frames?

Does anyone know the disadvantage of using frames in a database enabled website ?

one I can think of is that when you are building an order and go from one page to the other inserting information...and if something ever messes up and you have to refresh....well it takes you back to the home page messing your order up.

I am developing a site in which the nav is in a frame...is this a good idea?

any thoughts or ideas ?

Just out of question, why are you using frames? Is it to make the navigation of the site easier? One thing you can do (this is something I do a lot) is to use either [man]include()[/man] or [man]require()[/man] to include (no pun intended) a file that contain the menu that you want to use

Well...personally, I just dislike frames period. IFrames are...sometimes a necessary evil, but...I just try not to use anything that has the word "frame" in it. At least...in regards to HTML.

frames require alot of planning and thought about how to generate the noframes section so that search engines can work their way through your site.

You need to have frame busters on every page and it's hard for users to bookmark a specific page so they can return to it.

Unless there is a clear reason for having them I'd look at other navigation techniques.

Frames are as pointless and obsolete as javascript rollovers.
