database search and display

I have a database on my server called pictures in a folder called pics...
I have 5 tables in this database..

ID (which is my primary with auto increment)
name
company
mfg #
description

I would like to create a front end page that a user can enter info and it will search and display any match.

I would also like the user to be able to click any of the matches and be able to veiw the picture.

any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

Well you'd first need the form with the appropriate input fields, presumably you just want the description column to be searched?

submit the form, then you can perform an sql query like

SELECT * FROM table WHERE description LIKE '%$_POST[description]%'

then you'd just loop through all the returned rows using mysql_fetch_array() and display them using standard HTML

but, actually i would like all tables to be searched and since im very new at this can you be more specific and if you can include any examples, that would be great.

surely you only have one table with 5 fields? id, description, mfg #, company, name?

yes..Im sorry..i meant to say I would like to have all fields searched...i would like to have the keyword search but have a "search" dropdown menu
