Game Script

I've been searching for days for a script, with no luck. What I want to have is a script for indexing my pc games. Right now I have a script for my DVD collection. An awesome one actually which can be found here

However, now I want a script so that I can add my games to a database and have them output on my webpage. Almost like that link I posted above.

Anyone know anything or can write something small and simple? I don't know PHP enough to write anything. Any help/advice would be great! :p

if it's almost the same then take the above script and modify it.

trust me, that would be a pain. Specially since all the columns, tables etc are related to movies. Theres alot of code, and my knowledge isnt good enough with mysql/php to modify it, unfortuntely

You should check out GameCollector at this link:

It's pretty slick, it automatically pulls all the cover art and information from various sources on the internet.

Then, when you are done, you can export your entire collection to an XML file that you can use in any sort of php script.

I like that idea, I mean, it will come in handy no doubt, specially for pulling information from a central internet database. However, it would be nice to update my games from the web, via control panel option or something, instead of opening up a windows software program, and always updating that, and exporting.

Just not as convenient I guess :bemused:

Besides, it seem like someone could come up with something for me. All you would need really is a table with a few data types, like name, genre, release date, and game type. Then it could be as simple as inputing that information, write it to a mysql database and display it on ur webpage

Most of the people on this board are paid professionals. We're not going to write you a custom script for free because that doesn't put food on the table.

Oh I dunno, I've never offered money before, so I dont know whats a general basis.

25 bucks? For something relatively simple

Personally I tried acidebox's idea and its working ok i guess. Just cant modify the information through a database, rather a windows software program. Kinda retarded

Most times that would save money cause it would save time. Generally speaking programmers don't come cheap. We have worked hard to develop a knowledge base and skill set that the population at large does not have. Therefor when we sell the product of this skill set it's not cheap. I mean if someone on the Ford assembly line gets $30.00/hr for tightening a bolt how much is programming worth?

in all seriousness, if you want a custom php script, you can post a request easily on guru.com or elance.com. and there's tons of dirt-cheap (by USD$ standards) russian programmers, too.

but really, can't you do this with a database program (filemaker pro, ms access) or one of the services mentioned above almost as easily, and with much, much more flexibility? a custom web app (well, mini-web app, anyhow) seems like mucho overkill in this case.

If a game mini database app is too much overkill, why isnt a DVD mini database as well? There both for collections. One isnt more popular than the other. Seems like they're one in the same almost
