Very easy to solve.
You have two great options:

Option One, New Drive

Step 1) Go buy a new hard drive
Step 2) Install Linux and Mount the MS drive, use Wine (native windows on mounted drive ) to run some of your apps if you simply must have them.

Option Two, Goodbye Winblows

Step 1) Erase that crappy OS
Step 2) Install Linux

Will I be able to run 3DSMAX? mIRC? Shining Lore? Vice City? MSN? Aim? Neverwinter Nights? Counter-Strike? or any game that supports Windows only?

CS is supported in Linux, wine supports quite a few apps including some games id check it out first.

mirc theres chatzilla, but i think wine supports it, msn, aim why not use gAIM 🙂

I installed Linux before but I was totally clueless how to use it..especially using the terminal! like my god! how do you even compile things T_T.. I know about gAim and chatzilla..but I dont know how good mozilla is besides if I code C++ for windows..its gonna be hard for me to test out right? because most people that I know use windows besides you guys 🙂

Well, don't forget to tell him about FreeBSD! Yahoo's Messenger is now native, heh, heh...gotta love the Beastie.

Actually, what's the original problem? You've not mentioned which version of MS Windows, which exact service pack (we're all probably assuming, and quite possibly correctly, that you're installing Windows XP SP1a; why you've waited until now, we dunno...)

Is your box worm/spyware/virus free? Do you even have SCSI hardware in there? What exactly is the error message ("and etc." doesn't turn up much at Technet)

Maybe you have a scanner that uses an ASPI driver? You might disconnect it / shut down its TSR monitor, etc.

[edit]Ooh, and NWN is in ports ...[/edit]😉

.< To many questions @_@ No I do not have a scanner..I never trusted M$ Windows XP Professional that so I never did install it.. And what in the world is a SCSI driver? Yea I think I need to stick to Windows because if I do C++ Coding for a Windows Application which I may need it because my friend just told me about his old game engine and everything 🙂 I'm thinking on tweaking it and reviving it. Goes reading his C++ Primer book

Well, when you have a house full of Windows, and you feel a draft, you have to check every one 'til you find out which is the culprit....

                nice analogy 😃

                  lol! I wanna install Linux but I have to code a game in Windows so it'll work ;

                    Two problems

"What is duel boot" "What is duel boot"?

Nah, running 2 OS'es on one box is "dual boot(ing)". "Duel boot" is what happens when MicroSloth overwrites your MBR and forces you to install LILO or Grub to fix it... 😃

Ahh I've heard of this before! I seen it on some screenshots like "Linux" in a mini widnow and Micro$oft in the background.

No, I don't think so; what you are describing sounds more like "virtual machine" technology (e,g, an OS runs an "emulator" that provides the environment of another OS ... in the Open Source world that's often 'vmware'....)

Dual booting is literally having both OSes on one or more hard drives. You used a boot-time "selection menu" (I mentioned LILO and GRUB before ... Windows XP/NT has one too ... IIRC, you punch F8 the day long until it comes up) which is used to select the operating system during (third stage?) bootstrapping....
