Passing Strings between pages

I need to pass a string from one php page to another using a hidden fields in a form, viz:

<input name="newstring" type="hidden" value=<?php echo $somestring ?> >

However when the original $somestring has a space character in it there is a problem.

When the new page gets the string it is truncated at the first space. How do I avoid this?

Boy oh boy, how many times do you have to say it? (Don't take this personally 3rdvalve... this is asked often.)

Get into the habit of good coding practices by quoting your attributes. No quotes surrounding attribute values is not only poor coding, but it is also non-compliant with W3C's standards for HTML/XHTML.

It is funny though, that you have quotes on the other attributes, but not the value attribute...

Actually I have never been taught coding. I try to learn by ploughing through thick reference books. Sometimes it gets too difficult to keep my brain on track.

So I am immensly grateful for kind people who help me when I get stuck. Nevertheless I can kick myself for not noticing something like this. (See the previous comment about the brain!)

LOL, 3rd... I think you're taking the laziness thing out of context... Being lazy is copying and pasting snippets as a reusable widget for use throughout multiple projects, but not about non-compliance with standards in coding... Seriously though, you can read all about the standards at http://www.w3c.org (If you don't feel too lazy :o)
