Adding Latest Posts To Web Page

Hi,

I am using a mates forum for my website, as its a combined effort. However I would like to put on my website some code to show the last 5 - 10 posts that have gone through on that forum.

As I have only just started to look at PHP coding, I am unsure if or how I could do this.

The forum is hosted on an InvisionFree board. I was considering creating my own with the phpbb, but that would mean having to take people away from the forum my mate has worked hard to get up and running.

The forum is (if I am allowed to say, but if not, I am sure someone will say) http://www.football-uk.tk

If you click on portal here, it does give you the last few posts, but as I say, people who are going to come onto my site in the near future to check football news, gossip etc. may want to see topics that are being discussed.

You would need to examine the database structure and create a query to join the tables and get the latest rows. If you don't know how to work with databases, you probably shouldn't undertake this project yet.

I am alright with working with databases, just the php code I am uncertain with. I was just hoping someone had already done this with that certain forum type. Then it would cut a lot of corners for me.

If anyone has worked with this forum type, please let me know. If in the mean time I figure it out on my own, I will post on here to let you all know, and mark this thread as resolved.

There's really nothing to explain. Just figure out how which tables you need, and run the query.

just use [man]curl[/man] to retrieve the portal page and then a little [man]strpos[/man] and [man]substr[/man] manipulation on the returned html and you'll have your little thing for your site.
