ouch! blister on my finger

I was bored last night so I was playing guitar along to Leahy and now I have a blister on my left ring finger. I've been playing tin whistle too long, I can hardly play guitar anymore. Got to get some more practice in. Just as soon as my finger heals.

POP IT!! 🙂 I popped my blister cus I accidently touched a hot pot and i didnt wanna drop it so i let go like 5 seconds later. My blister was like 1 inch big 🙂 So I popped it water flew everywhere.

I popped it first thing this morning when I woke up. It was about 1/4" across, which is pretty big for the tip of my fingers.

I'm now practicing on my new C tin whistle while it heals. Skinny little strings on an electric guitar are murder. I should really get my licks back on a classical guitar with bigger strings first, but, it's only blood, right? 🙂

Gosh, that's a big 'un ...feelin for ya. Do you use a string lubricant? Might help a tad.

I get my calluses back about once a year when I go to summer camp with the kids....they're already gone again, although I played (or played at) 3 songs the other night in front of 800 people. Fortunately, I'm pretty good with the sequencer, so the "live" guitar didn't matter that much....

I guess I need to play more gigs....

Hey, just had a thought. Maybe we should glue lil' pieces of sandpaper to the top of the QWERTY board...just to keep things a lil' roughed up....

Actually I maintian my guitar caluses with cooking. It may sound silly but flip a couple burgers with your finger tips on the grill and see how quick you build up caluses. It's much quicker and less painful then doing it with a guitar.

Did you guys know your fingers are pretty sensitive with thousands more nerve endings then any 'normal' area of skin?

I use a pick, it's the other hand that has the issue 🙂 Sliding my left ring finger up and down those skinny strings on my strat is what did it.

And I always use a spatual to flip burgers. Steak, on the other hand, often does get flipped by hand I must admit.

I cooked in restruants from the age of 14 to 23. It was no joke, I used to reach into the broiler and flip stuff too, but I don't think I'd try that now.

A pick won't help me flip burgers and I can't fathom what I would use a spatula on the guitar for.

However, I play mostly classical guitar and I'd like to meet someone who can play that with a pick.

Davy must not be a guitar player. I knew immediately upon which hand (and why) Sxooter was suffering. Gotta feel for bassists ...

OTOH, a spatula does come in handy (no pun intended). But what's really needed is a tong and spatula combination. The other night I was grilling a bunch of burgers when one slid off the turner and caught between the grill wires ... I hadn't tongs, and only had a moment before it would've broken and at least part fallen in. Wanting to maintain perfectly round burgers (i really messed up the week prior), I just grabbed it and finished the flip manually.

Drawmack may be able to handle it, but it was dadgum too hot for me...that baby went flyin' :eek:

Well I started washing dishes when I was 12 by lying and saying I was 16 (hit puberty young and had too much facial hair for my age), so when I was 14 they thought I was 18.

Well when I was at Pasta Lovers it got a 3 diamond rating while I was running the kitchen.

When I was at angeloes it got a 3 star rating under my command.

I just got tired of working weekends and holidays or I'd still be doing it, I really loved that job just didn't like the hours.
