I want to create a FOAF (Friend of a Friend) list on my site I’m getting hung up on the logic of how to create this.

I have your basic friends list set up, so I can pull friends and the reverse friends of.

My question is how do I pull FOAF???

Get the friends of everyone in the table who is friend of mine. I find out who my friends are by looking in the friends table (if asking them to help me move house doesn't work), and I find out who their friends are by looking in the friends table.

select f1.friendid from friends f1, friends f2 where f1.id = f2.friendid and f2.id=$myid

Assuming everyone has an id in their id field, and their friends are listed in the friends table in the friendid field.

$sql = "SELECT f1.fid FROM friends f1, friends f2 WHERE f1.fid = f2.fid AND f2.fid=\"$membername\"

I do this and get nothing. There must be an error somewhere in adapting it to my database. Can you elaborate a bit ....? I’m still a bit stuck.
