saving a image on the server, from a form

i have a form with a field with a browse button
there the users inputs the url to an image

this image has to be saved in a dir on the server

the server is in intranet network with the PCs where the image may be, so it have direct access to it, just need to save it in a local dir

but i dunno how this should be done

any directions?

If running in an intranet and you are uploading locally, might be better to use the function

copy()
