This has been annotated in the archives. But I thought it might be useful to bring it up again.
I've had Apache 1.32 and PHP 4.3 running seemlessly for over a year. But all of a sudden my sessions began to go awry. The session variables seemed to not be holding their values from page to page!
After Black Ice crashed my computer a few weeks ago I downloaded and installed Zone Alarm 5.1. And sure enough, ZA is killing the session vars! I turn ZA off and everything works fine. I turn it back on and everything goes to hell once again.
I've only spent about a sleepless week trying to figure this all out. ZA makes no mention of PHP sessions, of course. But I suspect the defect is in how it blocks cookies (since this is really how sessions do their work, by default anyway).
Anybody else care to comment on this? Have you wanted to shoot your computer yet, not knowing what the problem was, thinking that PHP was losing its marbles?
p.s. I've had to send this message twice, since ZA apparently was keeping me from logging in here, even though the PHP Builder Board said I had already logged in.
Let's see if this works.
