Problem with image upload

Hi there!

I'm trying to create a little addition to my administration system for my website which should include an image update feature, so I can easily administrate my different galleries and such, but for some reason I get stuck rather quickly with the script.

I'm not shark at PHP-programming, so I found a tutorial on the net and went through that tutorial, but for some reason I still can't make it work.

Each time I try to upload a file, I get the "Problem: Could not move file to destination directory" error.

I searched around the net and saw that some used something called CHMOD and 777. But what exactly is that and what does it do? If that's the solution to my problem, it'd be great to know what I should do.

make a new folder

mkdir("/testfolder", 0777); 

and try to load your files into this one.

And where exactly should this piece of PHP-code be put in order for it to create this folder? I have tried but it still says the same!

I should perhaps say that register_globals and safe mode is off on the web-server.
