making isset work properly

I was having a problem passing variables from html to php and was provided the php code listed below. This solved my problem with the variables, but introduced a problem with isset. Can sone take the two pieces of code and make them actually work together? or tell me what is wrong. Thanks

When you post the form, the variable will always be set... It's a matter of whether or not the variable has a value assigned to it... So, you need to check to see if it is empty or not and you may as well check to see if it is, in fact, a number as well.

    echo "The number entered was: ".$_POST['number']; 

if($_POST['number'] > 10) {
    echo "<br />That's a big number.";

Does it bother you that your code does not work? I have provided the html and the php and I understand your code and again I ask, why does the code I provided (or the code you provided) not work?

What are you talking about? I merely posted the same response to both of your threads in which you double posted this question... My code works just fine for me, and I took the time to answer your question and give you more info than you even asked for regarding why the isset() wasn't working... If you are going to come here and ask for help, then refrain from your smart-a$$ comments when you don't know what you are talking about or doing. My code works just fine as it is. Anyhow, since my code works fine for me, as well as others here on these boards, then I am leaving it up to you to figure out why things aren't working for yourself. I wash my hands of you now on this thread, as well as the other thread you have for this topic.

Yeah, I saw that. The important thing was that you got it resolved. Look, don't come at me (or the other "regs") like that in the future. We are here to help, and sometimes (as is in this case), we aren't online. That's where others come in to help. Those junior members just happened to have been on the board to help you debug your code. I would have been more than happy to help you with your code had I been on the boards at that time.

You may want to look into getting an IDE that color-codes PHP. That will help you, in the future, find and resolve those kind of simple mistakes (The _ after the echo command) very easily for yourself.
