Hexadecimal Counting in SQL?

I have looked around a bit, and think my answer may be no.

But just in case, Is there a way to make SQL list a collumn in Hexadecimal? Otherwise known as Base 16?

I have a complex list of categories and I am thinking it would be more efficient to use Hex, as long as I could list my product in order with it.

Does anyone know?

You didn't mention which database you're using. MySQL can do it. You'll want to read this page:

For the order by to work, you'll probably need to cast the hex value as an integer and have the query get sorted that way.
