condition question

Hi,

I'm a bit stuck here with the following.

My client has a website where for many items, he uses the same thumbnail picture : tvpic.jpg, but there are others.

I am trying to make him a page where he would be able to view all his existing thumnails and choose which on he wants to use when entring a new item into the database.

I got it all to work ok except:

when the page displays all the thumbnails, the thumnail "tvpic.jpg" duplicates itseld for many, many pages, as many times as there are items using it... not very practical.

How do I say: "show all $thumbnails but no duplicates if two $thumbnail names are identical, show 1st one and ignore others"?

I'm not sure what db you are using.
e.g. MySQL

Select distinct(thumbnail) from table;

Select thumbnail from table group by thumbnail;

thanks for that.

I tried the "dinstinct" in my select statment, but no luck

here is my code:

I want to apply a condition to this image scr to say:

"dont show if thumnail is a duplicate"

i think this is the solution, but I don't know how to do this.
I know how to apply a condition to match or differ from a defined value, but not to say "show if unique" kind of thing.
