Been looking through a lot of the PHP/mySQL books on amazon.com and reading the reviews..... I thought I had a good idea of what would be a good book for me, but when I went to the book store today and flipped through the books, I realized that those reviews were pretty useless for me... I guess it's cuz ppl at different levels and purposes for PHP/mySQL look for differnt things from books....
Anyways, I'm a 4th year Computer Engineering Major, and have a good background with C/C++ and Java... I also used to design webpages when I was high school... I primarily want to use PHP/mySQL for webpages.... So far I've created an online calendar for an organization I'm in that allows members to add events in a manner similar to message boards... I created it with pretty simple code, learning the syntax and command online... But I know that looking online will only teach me so many things, and I want to learn more....
A lot of the books teach PHP in a more theoretical manner, like a C++ or Java book, which is what I'm not looking for... I'm looking for a book that has a more practical approach, showing you what PHP can do for your webpage, instead of explaining what an array is....
