send mail through outside mail server..

I'm using a php formmail script to log web form results and send an autoresponder to the person filling out the form. The company hosting the website does not allow email to be automatically sent out this way for security reasons. I've been told that I can alter the php script to send mail through an outside mail server instead of localhost. I have no idea how to even start doing this. Any ideas.

Hi smapdi,

I would suggest that you put your formular on the Server from which you are able to send emails an link to this from your webserver. Thats the safest (and easiest) way I think.
