PHP and Apache Logs

I am trying to find if there is any software available that can read an Apache access_log file that can understand PHP pages that use the "?" symbol.

For example, when visiting my site, the index page is index.php. Subsequent pages from that are access by index.php?page=welcome&lang=en or index.php?page=publications&lang=w

I am wanting to find out the number of hits per page, and I've tried writing a scipt myself, but it used up all available resources and brought down my server :eek:

So does anyone know of some software that can understand the "?" symbol in the access_log or is there a script available that I can use to do what I need?

I might recommend double checking your access.log just to make sure it is logging the URL parameters. There's a basic setting which doesn't. The combined log does (which I think is the default upon install). Either way, double check it before you go nuts trying to find a web app to read it.

I end up using 3 tools: AWStats, Webalizer, and Analog Stats. Each one gives a slightly different spin on the log data. Analog Stats does show the full URLs. You might have to play with them and tweak the settings to get what you need...

This is a typical entry in my access_log file:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [08/Sep/2004:08:54:11 +0100] "GET /english/images/menu_r5_c2.gif HTTP/1.1" 200 642 "http://www.xxx.xxx.xxx/index.php?page=welcome&lang=en" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)"

the IP address and web addresses have been obfuscated.

My original script read each line and then split it on the '?' to retrieve the page. I will take a look at the programs you use and see if they offer the ability to understand the '?'.
