image upload question/advice

Hi,
I am building an upload script and have a question. I am trying to avoid having 2 users upload a pic with the same filename and have them overwrite eachother. Is it ok to just use the temp_name instead of changing it back to the actual filename so that every pic name will be unique?

Thanks for any advice.

(I dont know if this matters but I will be storing the filename in mysql also.)

That should work fine. And as for storing the filename in a database, that's good too. Just as long as you don't store the file in the database (it'll corrupt easily).
