file transfer with process bar

Hallo,

I noticed some scripts for uploading files. Some of them uses a kind of process bar to show how much bytes are send.
check this link: http://www.raditha.com/php/upload.php

In the example above the process bar is done by a cgi script.

Is it possible to create such a process bar only with PHP?

This is a javascript solution. I like the cgi version, is there something in PHP what will do the the same? (I think its not) :bemused: 😃

something more... it looks like that the class will not work on real browsers like Mozilla...

Does anyone know of a way to display a "Loading.." graphic progress bar as soon as the upload form is submitted? Not necessarily to track the progress of the upload but to simply show the user that it is in progress? I have been looking for quite sometime and have not found a simple elegant way of achieving it.

I am also interested in finding out how you can cancel an upload that is in progress, a cancel button.
