I'm fairly new to php and databases. I built one site with php, mysql, and flash, but now I'm looking at a more corporate project. I'm still waiting on the specs as far as what database/server, etc. is supported, but I had a general question on the versatility of php. Can/should I use php with ms sql? Would it be better to use asp? are asp and php interchangeable between the major databases and it's just a matter of preference? Any major drawbacks to one or the other? It seems like php and mysql are attached at the hip, though that may just be because of economic realities. Just curious. Any thoughts, links, or books are much appreciated. I have Sitepoint's Database Driven Website with php and mysql, it's excellent. Thanks.
