Hi, i dont know if anybody there has any code that make this:

find in a txt file a word entered in a textbox of a form, and after show the results on a page

the data contained in the txt file is like

Name, Ssecure, Phone, Address, Email

I.E:

Bryan Martin, 000542, 535-4789; Ft. Ldl Florida, [e-mail]

All that items are separated by comma or similar at way that i only add more people to the directroy only adding it on the txt file

Something like this!

Here is a simple suggestion

if ($handle = opendir('/var/directory/people'))
{
    while (false != ($file = readdir($handle)))
    {
        $lines = file("/var/directory/people/" . $file);
        $line = $lines[1];  //you may use a for loop here to loop through the lines of the file 

    $fields = explode(",", $line);

    //from this point you can loop through the array elements and search fro your string

    For($i=0; $i <= $eof; $i++)
    {
         if($_POST['value'] == $fields[$i])
         {
                echo $fields[$i] ."<br>"; //ouput the matching value
         }  
     }//end of for statement
}//end if statement

}

Thanks for reply the message, look the idea is that all the items in a text file are readed by the php and after are showed in a web page, when they are consulted by the query.

I only want to say to the php file that read the fields separated by commas and when the query match, this are showed on a results web

this is what I have shown you. The only difference would be if you want to store the results. The script I wrote for you is a basic version of what you want for the entire process.
