Taking images from an internal server

I am working on a site where we have the web root folder (on a windows 2k server with IIS) on one machine, and images on a media server on another machine. The media server is not accessible from the public but the client wants us to be able to take the images and streaming media off that server for use on the site.

They have entered the path to the images into the database as such:
\Video\Webstream\Promos\Image\Good-Company.gif

Im wondering if there is a way of grabbing the images from that server without moving them to the webserver for use on thier site?

My initial reaction to this was no, because... how would browsers access the image files if they weren't accessible to the public?

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated .

Probably you can set a domain for the other server and call the images by URL.

And you call the images like [url]http://www.imagesite.com\Video\Webstream\Promos\Image\Good-Company.gif[/url] for example

Other thing you can probably do is to call them by IP, but I don´t know if it works

This is what I keep telling the people administering the server, but they keep feeding me internal mapped server links IE: //video/webstream/whatever. and tell me i should be able to write a script to stream the video and pictures from the media server to the clients browser somehow.

I dont think there is a way other than allowing the web to be able to see the files on the server as you suggest, either through a domain or through an ip. Id definately like to hear how to do it if I am wrong tho.
