Editing MySQL values in a PHP file

I've searched Google and the forums for this question, but I haven't found anything (probably because it's a really stupid question or because I'm searching for the wrong things)

I want to be able to edit the value in a particular of a particular table (of a particular database 🙂 ) and replace it with a variable that I have in my PHP file...

How do I do it?

You can use PHP functions to play with data in MySQL DB. For example mysql_connect, mysql_query and then as a parameter for that function you can use SQL statements like SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE ... Read the manual.
