Count Code

Hi,

Another easy one for most..

my table "posts" i have a field "number" now I want to count all the rows which have a say '2' in it. now 2 is a variable so it could be 3 or 5 or 44 it will be found in the url of the page

once i have counted all the rows i want to minus one then print the result!!

Probably something along these lines...

$qry = "SELECT count(number) AS countofnumber FROM posts WHERE number = '".$_GET['numbervariable']."'";
$runquery = mysql_query($qry);
$getresults = mysql_fetch_array($runquery);

$finalresult = ($getresults['countofnumber']-1);
echo $finalresult;
