LAMP help

Hello fokes!

I want to install linux, but I dont know which dist to use. Im some familiar with Slackware. but is it the right thing to run a LAMP on? I have seen plenty of webhost running Redhat for some reson. Why is that? is it simply that they have learn Redhat and use it or is it good for webhost?

Another thoght is that shuold I install alla package from the start installation of Slackware? Apache, php, mysql, I mean is it easier to do that in the long run?

Third question.
If I cant to command the linux computer I use ssh right? but Do I need to remember the IP adress all the time? cos the computer got dynamic ipadress, its get new ip sometimes. isnt there any dynamic computername I can use instead of IP when I try to acess it in my localnetwork.

1) Any linux distro should be sufficient. Red Hat is used cos you pay for it and Support is provided which is beneficial. Gentoo isnt too bad although havent had a chance to install it.

2) Yes its easier to do in the long run however installing from source although does take a bit of time you can set it all up with everything you want. This is more a personal opinion really it doesnt matter how you do it.

3) Ok for IP Address is this been used on the Internet/Intranet if so you can assign a static IP for Intranet if you want it accessible on the Internet buy a static IP. (unless you've got good administration skills and know linux well try to avoid using it on the Internet as a Production environment)
