image src with $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']

Hi,

I am trying to trying to use $SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] in an html img tag but i am not getting the correct path.

so my $SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] is something like
/www/www.mysite.com/public/htdocs

So I am trying this

<img src="<? echo $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; ?>/images/someimage.jpg">

and instead of the image displaying, it shows a broken image with a source of this

http://www.mysite.com/www/www.mysite.com/public/htdocs/images/someimage.jpg

Is there something i am doing incorrectly?

As you've discovered, $SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] does not contain the information you want. Try one of the other elements of the $SERVER array, SERVER_NAME, perhaps, or HTTP_HOST.

Or just leave it out entirely and use a relative URL.
