defining global variables..

im inside a function. id like to make the variables iv just set available outside of that function.

cant figure it out for the life of me, and its doing my box in. id like to avoid using sessions, or cookie-ing.

A couple of ways ...

	<title>Globals</title>
</head>

<body>
<?php
$name = 'fred';

function print_name(){
	global $name;
	echo '<br>'.$name;
}
print_name();

function print_name2(){
	echo '<br>'.$GLOBALS['name'];
}
print_name2();
?>
</body>
</html>

cheers mate, but not QUITE what i mean.... i mean

function setvars(){
  $name = "name";
  $title = "title";
  $surname = "surname";
};


setvars(); // run the function

print $name;
print $title;
print $surname;

like what you did, but the other way round, and for multiple variables.

function set_name(){
	global $name;
	$name = 'fred';
}
set_name();
echo '<br>'.$name;


function set_name2(){
	$GLOBALS['name'] = 'bill';
}
set_name2();

echo '<br>'.$name;
?>

I should say, this isn't really 'good programming' practice ... could get messy.

Since I'm a fan of beating the horse even if its dead, I gotta agree with paulnaj and stress that in general, global variables are normally NOT the way you want to do things.

If you're comfortable with your decision then ignore this, but if you'd like to give some specs about what you're doing and see if some of the folks around here could suggest some alternatives, I'd say go for it in the name of good coding practices 😉
